Sermon: Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (10 June 2012)

The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that we need to know “that the course of life we are pursuing is according to the will of God” (Lectures on Faith: - Third Lecture, Section 3) having confidence that we are pleasing God is a way for us to exercise our faith in him, and it becomes a motivating force toward righteous living.  This provides us with the hope of eternal life. Faith is a gift of God based upon our personal righteousness and the knowledge that God lives. Thus, the greater our obedience to the gospel principles, the greater will be our faith, and the greater or faith, the greater will be the hope and knowledge we posses.

We are told in the scriptures that “Faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone” (James 2:17).  We need such faith as this. We cannot see the future. We do not know what tomorrow will bring. Its takes faith, unseeing faith, for young people to proceed with their responsibilities in the face of such hard financial uncertainties that we have today, it can be hard to focus our faith and understanding when faced with such trying times, but it is that faith that will see us through. It takes great faith for a young women to raise a family instead if accepting employment, especially when she can see how hard times are for her young husband.

It takes great faith to observe the Sabbath when you could be working, when profit can be made, when merchandise can be sold. It takes great faith to pay tithes and offerings when funds are scarce and demands are great as is the case to often these days. It takes great faith to fast and have family prayers and observe the word of wisdom. It takes faith to do our teaching assignments, missionary work, and other service, when sacrifice is required. But remember that all these are the planting, while faithful, devout families, spiritual security, peace, and eternal life are the harvest.

Moroni taught that when miracles cease among the children of men it is because people have dwindled in unbelief and do not know God (Mormon), In the Book of Jeraneck the Prophet Hadjaneck exercised faith and the Lord bore him up to speak to the people and in doing so, he said this about his faith: “It is only through his power and the faith of my heart that I am able to stand here today….The Lord has promised though revelation that if we his people are faithful and obedient the we shall become one with him” (Jeraneck  5: 9-10) We, too, can show faith just as Hadjaneck and stand with God, having faith, and God will bare us up unto the end just as he did with one of his ancient Prophets.

One of the great blessings of having faith in the Saviour is hope of eternal life. Hope grows out of our faith and knowledge of Christ, enhanced by our assurance that we are sons and daughters of God and can become like him. Hope is earned through obedience to the commandments and gives us substance and focus to ones faith. No one need doubt the reality of eternal life. Having faith, we are given hope that we can enjoy eternal life with our Father in Heaven.

Let this be clear to us all: we do not mean to say that those of us who die in the fellowship of the Lord, and are true and faithful un to him, must be perfect in all things when they go and journey onto the next sphere of existence. There was and is only one perfect person, the Lord Jesus Christ, whose Father is God.

Now what we are saying is that when the followers of God, his saints, do as commanded, when they are obedient to the commandments, when they gain a sure testimony of the truth and divinity of the Lord and his work, and they depart form this mortal world, though they have not become perfect, they shall gain eternal life with God in his kingdom and then they shall be perfect with God in his Kingdom, standing with the Father and the Son.

It is therefore important that we study the scriptures, put into practise the principles learned, heed the counsel of his servants and pray always to gain a greater knowledge of God’s existence, personality, and purpose.

SERMON: Satan and His Powers

In the life of everyone here comes the conflict between good and evil, between Satan and the Lord…Evil and good influences will be ever present. We must all decide what we are going to choose. The scriptures say in The Book of Mormon in Second Nephi “Wherefore, men are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself”

Many of you read newspapers, many of you watch television, some of you these days might still listen to the radio, still some others of you read books and magazines. Much of this media is imbedded into your consciousness, and its only aim is to lead you astray.

Don’t forget that a lot of what you read is scurrilous. It is designed to tempt you. You are all intelligent beings of the Father omnipotent. You have learned in infancy what is right, now you must make your own decisions in determining if it is right or wrong. Let us not forget that if our life decisions are to be responsible and of sound base, we must be prepared and armed with the knowledge concerning Satan’s plan and purpose, his past performances, and his ongoing designs.

With this in mind, our first steps in combating Satan and his evil influence is to recognise that Satan is real - that he actually exists. We live in an age where men not only depersonalise God but also the devil. Their so-called sophistication and error have allowed them to do this. Under this misguided concept, to them Satan is a myth; useful for keeping people straight in less enlightened times, but outmoded and outdated in our supposedly “educated” and “intellectual” age.

But be warned, nothing is further from the truth or reality. The scriptures say in Chapter 12 of the Book of Jeraneck, “A warning I give that all those that stray from the paths of the Almighty Lord of Heaven are in the grip of the evil one and he is waiting to drag you down to hell” (12:48)

Let us not be fooled, Satan is very much a personal, individual personage of spirit, but he does not posses a mortal body. His desire to steal each of us and take us to his own personal eternal kingdom is no less ardent in wickedness than our Heavenly Father’s desire to attract us to his by His righteousness.

However, since Satan’s unsuccessful attempt to rob man of his agency, in the grand council in Heaven, Satan has been, “Going to and fro in the earth, and…walking up and down in it” (Job 1:7) We must remember that at the commencement and opening of every dispensation, he has made a frontal attack against the advent of truth. Let us remember that it was he who led one third of the hosts of Heaven astray and turned them against the Lord, and they are now part of Satan’s unrighteous following even today (see D&C 10:10 (1835)/39:36 Utah version.)

Fortunately for us, the Spirit and our knowledge of truth both help us recognise Satan and his workings. Regardless of Satan’s positive scriptural identification, “the general acceptance of Satan’s declaration, ‘I am not the devil, for there is none’ (2 Nephi) accounts in large measure for the decadence in our deteriorating society today.

As Latter Day Mormons we need not be, and we must not be, deceived by the sophistries of men concerning the reality of Satan. There is a personal devil, and we had better believe it. He and a countless host of followers, seen and unseen, are exercising a controlling influence upon men and their affairs in our world today, this is no time for Latter Day Mormons to equivocate.

Jesus taught, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other” (Matthew 6:24). We know that to qualify us to prevail against Satan and his wicked hosts, we have been given the gospel of Jesus Christ. We know that the spirit of Christ and the power of his priesthood are ample shield to the power of Satan. We know that there is given to each of us the gift and companionship of the great comforter, the Holy Ghost,  it is this great power of revelation which embraces the gift of discernment by which we may unerringly detect the devil and the counterfeits he is so successfully foisting upon this lost and gullible generation.

Therefore, we must not allow ourselves to be led astray by Satan’s deceptions. We have the gospel of Jesus Christ, the strengthening influence of prayer, and the all powerful priesthood of God. With these as our allies we can avoid Satan’s influence. As we resist Satan, his influence in our lives weakens, and we grow stronger in Christ.

On the Value of Honesty

A Statement by the Prophet Matthew Gill

Honesty is the glue that holds our civilization together. It helps us remain true to ourselves and makes us men and women of integrity. Honesty builds trust and character in ourselves and in our dealings with others. And it is the thread that, when unraveled, tears human beings apart from one another, destroying families and individuals alike.

In scripture, we learn of many powerful examples of honesty that illustrate honesty's importance and its ability to make our lives more whole and meaningful. The Lord Jesus Christ taught that those are with "an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it," will "bring forth fruit with patience.” (Luke 8:15)

How, then, can we be less than honest, if the Lord commands it?

Heavenly Father tells us that He considers a lying tongue to be "an abomination" (Proverbs 6:19) and that the lips that tell truth are "established forever." (Prov. 12:19)

In ancient Israel, God’s chosen Prophets often spoke honestly to warn of dangers - those that were hazards to both the moral and spiritual well being of God's people.

The people of Nephi, the Book of Alma says, were "numbered among the people who were of the church of God." They were said to be "perfectly honest and upright in all things." (Alma 27:27 Utah)

As Latter Day Mormons, we believe that God has never left us without Prophets - men of God who were tellers of Truth to God's people. These men told the Israelites, the Nephites on the American continent and the People of Light in the British Isles the Truth about God, and the need for God's people to be truthful.

In the Book of Helaman, Nephi said he was an "honest man" sent "unto you from God." (Helaman 9:36 Utah) “And then shall he say unto you, that I, Nephi, know nothing concerning the matter save it were given unto me by the power of God. And then shall ye know that I am an honest man, and that I am sent unto you from God.” The Book of Mormon Helaman 9:36)

To the Gentiles in the Ancient Roman world, the Apostle Paul urged men to hold fast to honesty and honest dealings with men, saying, "Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.” (2 Corinthians 13:7) “Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.” Hebrews 13:18) “Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.” Romans 13:13)

The Latter Day Prophet Joseph Smith, in Doctrine and Covenants, calls upon us to seek honesty in our dealings with others, and to seek out honest men with which to associate.

The Prophet Joseph calls for us to "let every man deal honestly, and be alike among this people, and receive alike, that ye may be one, even as I have commanded you.” (D&C 51:9 Utah; 23:2 1835) And: “Wherefore, honest men and wise men should be sought for diligently, and good men and wise men ye should observe to uphold; otherwise whatsoever is less than these cometh of evil.” (D&C 98:10 Utah; )

Today, in these latter days, I urge you to heed the Prophets and Apostles of old to provide  for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men (2 Corinthians 8:21) and to reflect upon their holy words about the sacredness of honesty.

All things of value are wrapped in honestly and truth. Those who tell the truth revere Heavenly Father and His Prophets. Those who shun truth shun God Himself. Be honest for the sake of Heavenly Father and His people, and blessings will be upon you.

Sermon: The New Passover

The New Passover: The Resurrection Faith of The Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ

The Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ is a Resurrection Church – a church celebrating and honoring with all dignity the atonement, sacrifice and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

The time of year set aside for such a remembrance has long been called “Easter.” But  “Easter” did not always symbolize Christ's resurrection from the dead and the Christian meaning of  the celebration was originally quite different from today’s celebration of eggs and bunnies.

The feast day of Easter was originally a pagan celebration of renewal and rebirth. Celebrated in the early spring, it honoured the pagan Saxon goddess Easter. When the early missionaries converted the Saxons to Christianity, the holiday, since it fell around the same time as the traditional memorial of Christ's resurrection from the dead, was merged with the pagan celebration, and became known as Easter.

This is far from its original meaning. The first Christians honoured the Lord with reverence and dignity, without the admixture of paganism and frivolity.

But the Church fell away, and was lost, only to be restored and resurrected once more in Ancient Britain, amongst the People of the Light, as has been revealed in modern times with the restoration and translation of the Book of Jeraneck.

There, in Chapter sixteen, the Lord revealed to the Prophet Jeraneck, saying, “and I saw that he was in a garden and I saw that he bled from his skin and the Lord said unto me ‘Behold I bleed for you and your people behold I bleed for all that have lived and will ever live.  I bleed and take upon my self the sins of the entire world.’ and then I saw that the people spat on him and whipped him and they placed thorns on his head and they nailed him to a tree in the form of a cross and there he died.  And my heart sank that the people would do this.  Now the Lord commanded me to look and I saw that he had risen from the dead and that he walked upon the earth once again and that he did many great things unto the people.”

Thus, the proper focus of this holy and sacred holiday was restored to His people.

And again, the Lord appeared unto His people in the Americas, and in the Book of Mormon, the Lord testifies that there is a resurrection, “therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death, is swallowed up in Christ.” (Mosiah Chapter 8)

In today’s restored Latter Day Church, which has been resurrected in our time just as it has been in ancient times amongst ancient peoples, these pagan additions have been stripped away from the original holiday and the wheat has been separated from the chaff, and the day is once again focused on the Lord’s sacrifice on our behalf.

On the 8th of March 2007, He gave to His church a new revelation and outlined His will concerning the celebration of Easter. The Lord said,

"I, the Lord, am most displeased with the world for they have taken my sacrifice and they have desecrated it and they have set it at naught. Behold I say unto you that it is not pleasing unto me that Easter be celebrated amongst my church in the manner in which it is being done. … Wherefore come unto me at the time you call Easter and lay a feat at your table in my honour and lay upon the alter table well prepared and cooked lamb which is a similitude of me and also bring before me unleavened bread mixed with bitter herbs that you may remember that I suffered in the garden and upon the cross for you. Behold I say that this is not to take away the sacredness of the sacrament but it is to prove unto me that I, the Lord, am remembered amongst you and that my sacrifice is not set at naught.”

Therefore, we choose to obey the Lord, and to stand firmly with the traditional teaching of Easter, the New Passover of the Lord, who has commanded us to keep this celebration special and holy. It is not just another holiday to be spent in frivolity and overindulgence, but a celebration and remembrance of the Lord’s sacrifice for us.

In these last days the Lord has seen fit to call a people forth to set right what has for so long been in error. He has seen fit to enlighten humanity with more revealed scripture and has enabled us to read the words of others who also worshipped at the feet of Christ. And so today he has chosen to do away with the errors of the Easter season.

In these last days the church of God has been commanded to set aside all the unrighteousness of Easter and has been commanded to remember the Passover of Christ from mortality to immortally from corruptible to incorruptible. The Feast of the New Passover is a true celebration of the true meaning of the celebration of a wonderful time of year named by the world as Easter.

To all our members worldwide, we ask that you remember the words spoken in the Book of prophecies and Revelations when the Lord said:

“Hearken, O my servant, my Prophet, for verily I say unto you that I, the Lord, am most displeased with the world for they have taken my sacrifice and they have desecrated it and they have set it at naught. Behold I say unto you that it is not pleasing unto me that Easter be celebrated amongst my church in the manner in which it is being done. For it is a celebration that mocks me and it is done in memory of a pagan God. Now I say unto you that it is expedient unto me that these things are done away with and that they not be done in my name, for my name is sacred and shall not be cast down amongst the swine for them to feast upon.”

So let us brace ourselves to our duty to do as the Lord commands and leave behind all the trappings of Easter eggs and bunny rabbits and let us instead look to Christ, for He is our Lord and it is to Him that our minds must be turned this time of year.

Watching a program called This World: The Mormon Candidate. First problem here is that John Sweeney has his facts wrong. Joseph Smith never was a polygamist that was the realm of Brigham Young. It’s also a program about the LDS Church and they do not represent all Mormons. Don’t be fooled in to thinking that other Mormon faiths that are not part of the LDS church are break away faiths, they are ...not! There is no official Mormon Church, one does not designate official by the size of a faith or church ever. Don’t believe everything you hear about Mormons. The Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ - Who Are We?

Many people believe that being a Mormon goes hand in hand with being a member of the LDS Utah based church, but nothing could be further from the truth. The Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ is just one of many independent Mormon faiths that have nothing at all to do with the LDS church based in Utah.

Being a Mormon means that we believe in the sacredness of the Book of Mormon and the ministry of the Prophet Joseph Smith, and there are many Mormon faiths that believe in those things without having anything to do with the LDS church based in Utah. 

So you may ask just what is it that The Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ believe in? What is that makes us different from other Mormon faiths? I hope to be able to impart just some of those things that make us unique from other Mormon faiths here in this blog post today.

The Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ

Who Are We?

· We believe in Almighty God (Heavenly Father) and in his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ and in the Holy Spirit.

· We are the Latter Day continuation of the original Church of Jesus Christ established on earth by Jesus Christ and his Apostles, and restored by Joseph Smith, Jr in 1830.

· In past ages, God began to speak to us through the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible.

· God continues to speak to us today through the Scriptures of the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, the Book of Jeraneck, and continuing revelation through his living Prophet.

· While mankind is inclined towards sin through the example of our first parent, Adam, we may freely choose to obey God’s Plan of Salvation or reject it and follow Satan.

· Through repentance, baptism and obedience to Jesus Christ and the Gospel, we may overcome sin and death and return to God to live eternally with Him.

· As Christ’s Church, we have been commissioned by Christ to spread the Gospel to all peoples and nations in these Latter Days and to prepare for the physical return of Christ.

The Plan of Salvation (LDCJC)

· The Plan of Salvation enables us to return to Almighty God, the Heavenly Father, after our lives end, and lets us live according to His will while we are here on earth.

· Before our birth into physical bodies here on earth, each of us existed in heaven as purely spiritual beings.

· We were sent to earth to receive a physical body and to be tested to determine our eternal destiny.

· Here, we are tempted by Satan, a fallen angel who disobeyed Heavenly Father and was cast out of heaven. Satan wishes us to fail and to be eternally separated from Heavenly Father, as he is.

· All people have fallen short of God’s will for our lives.

· But God wishes us to repent, be Born Again, and stop sinning. (D&C 49:13)

· Jesus Christ, the Son of Heavenly Father, revealed teachings and commandments of God that allow us be Born Again, stop sinning and attain salvation.

· God has revealed scriptures to us to guide us and keep us from sinning.

· When we recognise these Truths, we are baptised and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.

· Upon baptism, we are reborn and begin living according to the will of God.

· At baptism, we make a covenant with Jesus Christ and with Heavenly Father that we will not live sinfully anymore.

· By continuing to live in fellowship with Jesus Christ, by following his teachings, principles and the precepts God has revealed through Christ and God’s Prophets, we will attain salvation.

· We have the ability to freely choose to obey Satan or the will of our Heavenly Father, as revealed by Jesus Christ and His Prophets. (2 Nephi 2)

· We will be judged by God after our physical deaths according to our works in this life. (Alma 41; Moroni 7)

The Book of Jeraneck

A Further Testimony of Jesus Christ and a Record of the Early Inhabitants of the British Isles

The Book of Jeraneck, a Scripture of the Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ, was translated by Matthew Gill, Prophet, Seer, Translator and Revelator of the Church, in 2006.

The book is a record of a dying civilisation of early Britain which had constructed Stonehenge and the other Stone Circles as meeting places and places of worship of Almighty God, who brought them from the Tower of Babel to Britain to have them serve Him as His People.

The book answers fundamental questions that have perplexed historians for centuries, like, What were the early peoples of Britain like? Where did the come from? What did they believe? And who built the ancient Megaliths like Stonehenge - and for what purpose?

As you can see there are lots of things that are very similar to many Mormon faiths but there are also differences as well. The biggest thing that makes us different from many Mormon faiths is that we have the Book of Jeraneck. A lot has been said about the Book of Jeraneck and the church that is untrue and this can be very confusing for those who wish to know more about The Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ and so with that in mind we think that an explanation about the book of Jeraneck would be helpful. So the next time you think you know what The Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ is all about or you think you know what a Mormon is just take a few moments to look at all the facts out there. Mormons are not the intellectual property of the LDS church based in Utah and being a Mormon does not go hand in hand with being a member of the LDS church.

Christmas Message from the Prophet Matthew Gill

Today, people around the world are preparing for Christmas. Hopefully, all are preparing to celebrate on that special day the birth in a Bethlehem manger of the Prince of Peace the Redeemer of the world - Jesus the Christ. Let us remember that this season is full of promise and hope because of Jesus Christ. It is he whom we celebrate and it is he whom we love and serve as his disciples. We hope to bring all to the knowledge of his birth, earthly mission and message of eternal salvation during this time of beauty and promise.

Centuries before the birth of the Christ child, prophets proclaimed that Jesus would be born of a virgin.

The prophet Isaiah foretold and testified of the Savior’s divine mission and birth, saying, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

The Prophet Nephi saw a vision of the Savior’s birth and ministry before and after the Lord’s Crucifixion:

“And I beheld the city of Nazareth; and in the city of Nazareth I beheld a virgin, and she was exceeding fair and white.”

And in the Book of Mosiah, King Benjamin testified of the coming of the Savior, saying:

“For behold, the time cometh, and is not far distant, that with power, the Lord omnipotent who reigneth, which was, and is from all eternity to all eternity, shall come down from Heaven, among the children of men… And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of Heaven and Earth, the creator of all things, from the beginning; and his mother shall be called Mary.”

Other prophets such as Daniel and Samuel the Lamanite described further details of His earthly ministry. Hosea foretold His sojourn into Egypt. The Lord sent John the Baptist, one of the noblest of prophets, to “prepare the way” for the earthly ministry of the Christ.

We learn in the Book of Jeraneck that Christ made himself known to Ancient Britons. The Prophet Sharaneck was told by Christ, “I am he who will be born to a virgin pure and clean.” (Jaraneck 5:17.)

And again, the Prophet Jeraneck reveals that he was shown a vision of the birth of the Saviour, “I saw a Virgin and she was pure and unspotted and she was moved upon by the Holy Spirit and she gave birth to a baby boy and this baby was the Lord of Heaven and she gave birth to him in a  stable built in to the rocks and she named him Jesus.” (16:41)

The ancient prophets, before the birth of Jesus, told of the glories of His atonement, the miracle of His resurrection. They foretold His coming to open the way for a literal resurrection for all humankind and for eternal life for those who merit that “greatest of all gifts.”

Yes, there were centuries of preparation for the coming of the Lord. We should, in turn, live in gratitude for these glorious revelation and live lives worthy of that inheritance.

Brothers and sisters, in the spirit of those ancient prophets, may we prepare for this year’s observance of His birth by saying,

“Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”

The LDCJC remembers the 11 Sept. attacks 10 years on

As we pause on this dark day of remembrance of the 11 September attacks in the United States, the Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ recognizes the courage and resilience of the families of the victims of those attacks. Among the more than 2800 victims were 67 Britons and people from dozens of other nations, making these evil acts truly an attack on decent and innocent men and women all across the globe.

May Almighty God continue to comfort and give solace and strength to the families of the victims and to all mankind as we prayerfully remember with sorrow this day.

A Call to Harvest for the Lord

Each of us has a solemn obligation to, first, understand by the Spirit what has said about the mission of the Church; second, to catch the prophetic vision of missionary work and third, to implement completely in our own lives the words of the Lord and of His living Prophet pertaining to missionary work.

The most important counsel and direction on missionary work comes to us through the Lord to his Prophets, for the Prophet is literally the mouthpiece of the Lord. So stated the Lord: “For his word ye shall receive, as if from mine own mouth. In all patience and faith” (D&C 46:2/1835; D&C 21:5 Utah Version)

I testify to you by the Spirit that we should stand as living testimonies of what the Lord would have us do today. I fear that unless we fully understand the words of Prophets past and Prophets present and catch the vision of missionary work, and implement the words of the Lord, we will be held accountable before God. I also fear that we have not yet done what the Lord would have us do as directed to us in his revelations concerning missionary work.

The Lord has asked that we place great emphasis on the sacredness of bringing souls unto our Father in Heaven and the importance of greatly increasing convert baptisms. The Lord has given us much direction on this matter in fact he spoke to o John and Peter Whitmer on this very issue he said, “And now, behold, I say unto you, that the thing which will be of the most worth unto you will be to declare repentance unto this people, that you may bring souls unto me, that you may rest with them in the kingdom of my Father.’” (D&C 40:3/1835)

As a Church, we have not yet caught that vision. Members are not bringing people and ultimately members into the Church year on year. We have not yet met the challenge and charge laid out by the Lord. As far as convert baptisms are concerned, we have only been converting a few people a year for the last six years. I say to you and to all our members wherever they may be, that we must have more converts. They must be well converted. No gimmicks to get baptisms. They must be real converts, but we do want more converts. It is imperative that we do as the Lord commands and bring souls unto Christ and bring them unto his church.

I call upon the members of this Church to actively go out  into the world - not merely to make friends for the Church, though that is important - but to properly convert and baptize.“He that believeth and is baptized must be saved.” (Mark 16:16.) Note that the scripture says not he that heareth, but he that believeth and is baptized, and that is the important part. 

For if we sit back in complacency and do nothing, then the Lord's Church will not grow, tithing will remain stagnant, and so the Church will remain stagnant and wither on the vine. And what will we say when we stand before the Lord as he calls us forward at judgment?

Shall we stand and say, ‘Lord I tried, but it was too hard, I had other priorities,’ or shall we stand and say, ‘I did as you commanded. I ploughed the field that was white and ready for the harvest; I spoke and I went out; I laboured hard in your name.’

Let me put it this way, and please take the time to think about this before answering to yourself. Do we really believe in revelation? If so, then why can we not accept the revealed Word of God? He has revealed to us that we should look on the fields; for they are white and ready to harvest (John 4:35.) It has be ready since the inception of the Church under our dear Prophet, Brother Joseph, who was commanded to restore Christ’s Church in these Latter Days. He has asked us again in modern day scripture to go out and harvest the field. (D&C 39:2/1835)

We have been given revelation in the form of great new scripture. Who are we to withhold that blessing from the world? Who are we to deny them a chance at salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ and his Church?

I ask each and every one of you, and I will include myself, to set for our church a goal that we shall get up and go out in to the world to the marketplaces and to the streets to endeavour to bring souls unto the Lord and to impart what has been given us as a gift by Almighty God.

Let us act in obedience so faithfully, that the Lord, in the final day, shall say to each one of us, “Well done, good and faithful servant… you have served me well.” (Matt. 25:21; Book of Jeraneck 9:12)

Head of Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ Calls for End of Rioting, Prayer for Victims

Prophet, Seer and Revelator of the Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ, Matthew Gill, has appealed for calm in London and other cities affected by the rioting and violence of recent days.

His message follows:

"Pillaging and violence are before us, and strife and contention arise.

The violence, destruction of property and disregard for civil society we have witnessed in recent days is truly shocking to all men and women of conscience throughout the land.

I call on all who cherish and labour for peace should pray for those effected by this outburst of violence, including those who have lost their livelihoods, their businesses and their homes.

I share the vision of the Prophet Isaiah, who prayed that, "violence shall no more be heard in the land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders." (Is. 60:18)

Those who riot should turn towards God with peace, humility and repentance, for “from violence he redeems their life.” (Ps. 72:14)

But also, those who commit violence against others should know that the Lord shall repay them “according to the works of their own hands.” (Jer. 25:14) and shall "punish the wicked for their iniquity" and "cause the arrogance of the proud to cease." (Is. 13:11.)

"We believe that all men are bound to sustain and uphold the respective governments in which they reside while protected in their inherent and inalienable rights by the laws of such governments," wrote the Prophet Joseph Smith, "and that sedition and rebellion are unbecoming every citizen thus protected, and should be punished accordingly." (Doctrine & Covenants, section 102, 1835 edition.)

It is the hope and prayer of myself and of the members of the Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ that peace shall reign in the land, and that all will love one another, as the Lord loves us. And that all peoples shall, in the words of the Apostle Paul, "be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you."

Prophet Sends Condolences to Norway

The Prophet Matthew Gill has released the following statement on the tragedy in Norway:

"We were saddened to hear the news of the mass shooting and bomb explosion in Norway, it is unthinkable to have to deal with events such as these. The church would like to send its condolences to all those people that have lost loved ones in the tragic events that have transpired in Norway over the last few days.

The church has friends in Norway and we hope that we are able to offer any assistance that we can to you at this time.

As the Prophet of the church, I pray that those have experienced loss at this time may find comfort on the arms of the saviour that they might be able to feel of his spirit at this time although difficult it may seem I want you all to know that the Lord is with you in this our of need and that he will send the Holy Ghost to comfort those that stand in need of comfort.

Once again our thoughts are with all the people of Norway at this time. Peace be with you."

Latter Day Charity Relief Update

The Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ would like to take this opportunity to publicly express its thanks to all those individuals and business involved in helping the charitable arm of the church The Latter Day Charity Relief it is thanks to you and your willingness to help that our charity relief efforts have been such a great success. It has been a long road getting this far and reaching out to all the people that we have done, however with your help it has been worth it. The church has been able to offer help to families and individuals all over the world especially those in need on the African continent. You will all be aware of the most recent news coming out of Africa, and it is with your help that we have been able to offer both monetary and clothing relief to the people who now find themselves in much need of both.

Over the last five months we have expanded the scope and reach of Latter Day Charity Relief, we have been able to expand the amount of people working with us and we have now been able to expand our business links and charitable work providing clothing and monetary aid to many people who have had a real need of it. We have been able to allow a small amount of light in to peoples lives were there has only been darkness.

We hope with your continued help to be able to continue our efforts and with the expansion of our charitable outreach we hope to be able to effect great change in many more people lives.

The Church and Passover Celebration

In these last days the Lord has seen fit to call a people forth to set right what has for so long been in error. He has seen fit to enlighten humanity with more revealed scripture and has enabled us to read the words of others who also worshipped at the feet of Christ. As so today h e has chosen to do away with the errors of the Easter season.

In these last days the church of God has been commanded to set aside all the unrighteousness of Easter and has been commanded to remember the Passover of Christ from mortality to immortally from corruptible to incorruptible. The feast of the new Passover is a true celebration of the true meaning of the celebration of a wonderful time of year named by the world as Easter.

To all our members world wide we ask that you to remember the words spoken in the Book of prophecies and Revelations when the Lord said:
‘Hearken, O my servant, my Prophet, for verily I say unto you that I the Lord am most displeased with the world for they have taken my sacrifice and they have desecrated it and they have set it at naught. Behold I say unto you that it is not pleasing unto me that Easter be celebrated amongst my church in the manner in which it is being done. For it is a celebration that mocks me and it is done in memory of a pagan God. Now I say unto you that it is expedient unto me that these things are done away with and that they not be done in my name for my name is sacred and shall not be cast down amongst the swine for them to feast upon’
So let us brace ourselves to our duty to do as the Lord commands and leave behind all the trappings of Easter eggs and bunny rabbits and let us instead look to Christ for he is our Lord and it is to him that our minds must be turned this time of year. God bless you my brothers and sisters and may you all have a wonderful and happy and Christ centered Passover weekend.
